In their official statement the Trustees affirm this appointment as a hopeful direction for the Church of England…

In response to the announcement on 3rd Oct 2025 that Dame Sarah Mullally is the first female Archbishop of Canterbury, Together trustees have released the following statement:
“The Trustees of Together for the Church of England warmly congratulate Bishop Sarah Mullally on her nomination as Archbishop of Canterbury. Bishop Sarah has been a trailblazer time after time – and is now the first woman to hold this ancient and important role. Through her careful, courageous, wise, and pastoral leadership of the LLF process, we saw the first fruits of what a positive future for LGBTQIA people might be in the Church of England. We offer her our congratulations and our prayers. We look forward to working with her as we seek ever more to enable the church to serve all those who look to love and serve Jesus in England, and beyond. ‘It is the Lord who goes before you. God will be with you; God will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear.’“
